The wind and wave continued on Day 6 of the 2019 Gran Canaria Wind & Waves Festival leading to another full day of world class competition in arguably some of the best conditions of the event so far. By the end of the day only the top 4 men and women are left standing in the double eliminations, so Thursday is all set for finals day where you’ll be able to see if Daida Moreno (Severne / Severne Sails / Maui Ultra Fins) and Ricardo Campello (Brunotti Boards) can defend their single elimination crowns.
Classic Pozo conditions greeted competitors at the start of the fifth day of the 2019 Gran Canaria Wind & Waves Festival as Pozo went into nuclear mode with winds well over 40 knots providing the perfect platform for the world’s most radical sailors to do what they do best… launch into gravity-defying stunts and radical wave manoeuvres, although for a time the wind was almost too strong. After an epic day of competition, the Men’s and Women’s Single Eliminations have been completed, while the Men’s Double Elimination also began during the afternoon.
The conditions weren’t always the easiest on day four of the 2019 Gran Canaria Wind & Waves Festival, but that didn’t stop the world’s best sailors putting on a radical display as they put their bodies on the line in the pursuit for success. Throughout the day there were monster moves, and bailouts to match, as the level went through the roof again and after a busy day of competing only the top 8 men and women remain standing in the single eliminations.

The level of the next generation went through the roof on the finals day of the Youth’s as several of the youngsters produced standout performances, to not only show that the sport is in safe hands in years to come, but also to place a seed of worry in their older peers’ minds – such was the level shown by some of the youngsters.
Maria Morales (Quatro / Goya Windsurfing) produced an excellent display in the winners’ final to earn the victory in the U15s division ahead of Alexia Kiefer Quintana (Fanatic / Duotone) and Lina Eržen (Flikka / …več
